Santa Elena

Santa Elena is the sister town of San Ignacio city in the Cayo District. Those two towns are separated by a single suspension bridge. San Ignacio continued to increase in size, until it literally absorbed Santa Elena, which was more of a village than a city. However, when combined, San Ignacio and Santa Elena make up Belize’s second largest urban area. Those two cities seem like a single city to most tourists, but the history of the two is very interesting. Santa Elena is still growing more and more popular because of the relatively inexpensive real estate for sale.
